What is Computer Based Training?

ESI's computer based training courses are approximately 40-hour long training classes that are guided and mediated by a computer software program, as opposed to an instructor.

Students may take the course at their own pace, and let the system track their progress. The courses keep track of where students left off, as well the amount of time they actually spend in the course. A designated system administrator can also monitor a student's progress.

ESI's computer based training courses also use graphics to facilitate the learning process, provide interactive quizzes to give the student positive reinforcement, and offer interactive, on-line programming exercises that provide the student with immediate feedback. Courses can be repeated as desired, since the "instructor" is always available.

Why Use Computer Based Training Courses?

Increase Productivity - Your staff becomes productive quicker, with less expense. Training for a new hire can begin the first day. No need to wait until a class is scheduled.

Convenient - computer based training courses are available directly from the student's terminal. Students access the system as, and when, they need to, and can retake courses at any time.

Cost Effective - The cost of just one computer based training course is usually less than sending a person for training and significantly less for training several students. Eliminate extra expenses for travel, lodging, meals, or time away from the office. All courses can be used for as many students as needed.

Comprehensive Tutorials - Each computer based training course is approximately 40 hours long (a full week of training) and allows students to keep track of where they left off as well the amount of time they actually spend in the course. Computer based training courses use graphics to facilitate the learning process. Interactive quizzes provide positive feedback and reinforcement. The Student Guides provide a summary that helps reinforce the material.

Easy and Fun to Use - Each computer based training course is organized into Units, Lessons and Concepts. Each Unit has many Lessons, and each Lesson has many Concepts. Students can go forward, back, return to the beginning of the concept, go back to the main menu, review a lesson etc.. A context-sensitive strip menu is used to ease navigation through the course.

Available Reference Resource - Sometimes when students take other courses and don't use the material right away, it's forgotten. Computer based training courses allow students to look up any information they need in order to answer any question they have at any particular moment and, therefore, solve problems immediately.

On-going Updates - ESI computer based training courses are revised and updated as the standards change, so that a student always has the latest information. Software Support Licenses are very inexpensive, which allows a company to have full control of their training program and provide the latest information in all areas, without exorbitant expense.

Available On All Major M Platforms - computer based training courses run on PC's all the way up to mainframes.
