Course Length: 32 class hours, over the course of 4½ days
Prerequisites: Students require a good knowledge of using computers,
and general typing competency

File Manager for Users is designed for the student who wants to be able to understand the concepts behind VA File Manager, in order to use it more effectively.
The student begins by creating a new file, and defining its structure. A listing of the file structure is then printed, showing its relationship to the exercise just completed. Data is entered into the new structure, further defining File Managers nuances.
Some very basic ad hoc reports are generated. Print templates are used to produce frequently-generated reports with consistent formatting. The student learns to include and exclude entries from the report.
The student will be shown the difference between multiple fields and the file entry that contains it. File pointers will also be utilized.
The student will create sort templates, allowing the user to select ranges of data to be included in a report. The student will use heading templates to override File Managers automatic report headings.
The student will produce reports using the extended syntax, making it possible to create ad-hoc relationships between files.
