Fundamental Skills of Communication is one of two foundation courses which help to develop skills that are basic to all the other courses in this series. Students acquire these skills through a variety of exercises and skill building techniques. This course addresses an audience of team leaders, supervisors, and first-line managers.
Fundamental Skills of Communicating deals with the basics of effective communication between team leader and team member. Leaders learn how to design clear, concise messages; look for nonverbal clues; listen to communicate; and overcome barriers to understanding.
The student analyzes scenes showing a team leader who lacks these skills and scenes showing a team leader who is skilled. The student then has an opportunity to identify those behavioral factors and specific skill points that facilitate communication.
